🏋️♀️My Fitness Faves✨
Trying to step up your game this year? Here’s my latest round-up of everything you need to take your fitness + wellness game to the next level.
These are my current faves, but I’m always rotating brands and trying new things to stay in the know. 😉 Drop a comment if there’s a product you’d like me to review!
This is a GREAT purchase if you like to train at home or are building a home gym. It’s affordable compared to a normal bench press setup and way more versatile. You can store bands and dumbbells inside, adjust the step height up or down, and create different inclines for bench pressing. You can use this for cardio, core training, several lunge and step up variations, hip-thrusting, chest pressing, and even attach bands for different cable-like exercises. OBSESSED. The only downside is the hard surface when lying on it, so I’d recommend draping a yoga mat over it when bench pressing. However, I believe the newer version has a softer step if you want to pay more.
2. Mini Trampoline
This thing holds 330-440lbs and folds in half… #sold. I got it in anticipation of the winter months when I knew I’d be less inclined to go for long walks outside. Gotta get your steps in somewhere, right? Jumping on this is low impact, fun, and good for your lymphatic system. You don’t have to hop for very long to get your heart rate up, so more bang for your buck! I like to take breaks from long bouts of sitting on my computer to listen to music and dance on this thing, and it always boosts my mood. P.S - the handle bar is optional and can be left off, too.
3. Hip Thrust Pad
You can use this for more than hip thrusting, of course, but if you’re out here trying to build a booty 🍑 then you know this thing is a gym bag essential. No more rolling up yoga mats or balancing a dumbbell uncomfortably on your legs. Pop this on the bar and watch everyone else in the gym ask if they can borrow it. 😂 But seriously, happens every time.
4. Born Tough Gym Bag
Speaking of gym bags, this one is sleek. 💁🏼♀️I love the all black look, but it’s also water-resistant, has a large vented pocket for shoes/towel, and is large enough to fit all my gear (including the hip thrust pad) without being ginormous and too much like something my dad would’ve carried around in the 90s. 😂 Aesthetically balanced, if you will, and I think my dad would like it too.
5. Booty Bands
If you know me, you know I’ve been using and recommending the Perform Better mini bands for years. I still like them, but after being gifted these thicker fabric bands I am loving the change-up! First of all, the colors are amazing 👌🏽, but the fabric band is durable, more comfortable, and has a different feel during exercises. They’re also a bit easier to get on if you have a hard time with the elastic ones. If you like having options, I highly recommend adding these beauties to your collection.
6. Yeti Tumbler
I’ve had my tumbler with this specific top for years and convinced pretty much everyone I know to get one, too. 😂 Works for hot and cold - 30 oz is roughly 1/4 of a gallon so it makes it easy to track your water intake across the day. You can stick my favorite softy straws inside to keep your teeth white when sipping cold brew. Most importantly, the stainless steel and silicone straw combo is better for your health because you’re avoiding plastic. The colors are amazing, and carrying around something pretty might be just the motivation you need to hit that hydration goal!
7. Joov Red Light
The Joov red light therapy devices are quite an investment, but if you’re looking to splurge on wellness, this is a fun one. All devices deliver red and near infared wavelengths to optimize cellular function, reduce joint pain and inflammation, enhance blood fIow, sleep, performance, and recovery, and stimulate collagen for healthy skin. I enjoy journaling and reading in front of my Joov as part of my daily morning routine.✨
8. Walking Treadmill
My friend Cait showed me this affordable home treadmill that folds up, can be stored underneath your bed out of the way, and allows you to walk and lightly jog without leaving your house. This is a GAME changer if you work from home and are sitting 24/7 - being able to take a break to move your body is so important for your health! Especially if you don’t have a gym membership, live far from your gym, or just struggle to stay active during those cold and darker months - this is a great long-term investment for your health and fitness.
9. Kettlebell
I recommend having at least one medium-to-heavy kettlebell in your home gym repertoire (especially if you don’t yet have a barbell), as they are one of the best strength and conditioning tools out there. Kettlebells are different and more versatile than dumbbells, especially in building balance, core strength, and stability. I like this one because of the soft body and durability.
10. Jumprope
Did you know that jump roping is one of the best cardiovascular exercises there is?! You don’t need a fancy treadmill and you don’t even need to run if you don’t want to. You can get a great workout in a SHORT amount of time by jump roping. You can also spend less than $30 on this piece of equipment and it’ll probably last you for years. This one is quality, adjustable in length, and small enough to travel with - no excuses. 😉
11. Long Resistance Band
I recommend having one of these longer bands as it can be looped around poles and sturdy furniture to become your at-home cable machine, but guess what? I also bring one TO the gym every time I workout and train my clients. It’s great for mobility warm ups, to assist you in stretching or doing assisted pull ups or dips, while also being a tool for strength work on it’s own. It’s also light and travel friendly!
12. Exercise Pad
This balance pad is a new find and I find it SO helpful to put under your forearms during planks and side planks, under knees during all kneeling exercises, to use to elevate one foot during deficit lunges, to have something to tap your knee to during split squats and lunges for consistency, and more! I use it almost daily and wish I got one sooner.
13. Slider discs
Slider discs are so fun - talk about taking your core training to the next level. 😅 I use these to level up basic exercises like lunges, mountain climbers, and planks, but they also come in handy for lying hamstring curls at home. Easy to travel with since they are so light and compact. The black side can be used on a hard floor and the shiny side can be used on a carpet. No more using rags, towels, and your socks - slider discs are a great addition to your gym bag!
